Old Bailey at the sessions which began on Wednesday, 19
October 1785.
Crime &
Sentence: “Maria Hamilton was indicted
for feloniously stealing on the 20th day of september last, one linen gown, value 21s., nine yards and a half of
linen trimming value 2s. 3d., one silk and cotton gown, value 6s., one black stuff flounced petticoat, value 6s., one apron,
value 12d and 9s. 6d. in monies numbered, the property of James Groves, in the
dwelling house of Thomas Shaw.”
“Guilty, of stealing
to the value of 39s. To be transported for 7 years”
